So I've perused through DA for a few years or more, and have a member for a year or so. Slowly and still slower, I upload new art. In contrast, I lose myself for hours in this vast museum of creativity. However, the amazing works that I see both inspire me and burdens my soul.
As this is my first journal log, this is the first impression that readers get of me. Funny, considering I am being somewhat self absorbed to even believe that one would take the time to read since I don't read anyone else's journals. Either way, I guess this is a great way to pass my boredom, and maybe sift through my thoughts.
I digress....how can I consider myself an artist when it is so difficult to create? ON top of that, how could I even consider myself a good artist with all the crazy stuff I see here. No ideas come to mind and sometimes I find myself more of a copier. Maybe I am too critical of my own work and hide from it by looking at others. Perhaps this is the journey of the artist in general. Unfortunately I feel I am a slow learner.
Indeed, the quality of work that is displayed on DA is incredible. The speed in which some of it is created is daunting. I by no means am slow either; creating some works within a sitting, but it takes me an eternity to get the fire going. I don't know if it is initiative that I lack, or am I simply uninspired by the things around me. I don't even mean to be depressing. I guess I just want to expose a bit about myself, and to pose a question: shouldn't you be your own favorite artist?
